Community Involvement

Mussey Township Fire Department personnel and their families participate in many community events throughout the year.  We host an Open House during Fire Prevention Week each year in October.  Where the public can view our equipment, ask questions and they even get to see a live vehicle extrication demonstration.  During this week we also proudly host over 300 young students in our fire station for tours and fire safety lessons.  Firefighters also travel to the schools, daycares, and preschools to teach more fire safety.  These are all popular events.

During the early spring and summer months, we volunteer to post a medical team of at least one medically qualified firefighter at little league games and use an apparatus to water down the ball fields to keep the dust down.  During late summer and early fall we have Capac days and the football season where we man the medical rig again.  In the month of December along with the Chamber of Commerce we participate in the annual "Santa's Coming to Town."  Where Santa sits with the children for a photograph and patiently listens to their requests.  Following that is the Lighted Parade and the ceremonial Lighting Of The Tree!  This event is also well attended and continues to grow in popularity, now if we can only get the weather to cooperate!
